Meet the DJ...
Hi! If you're looking for a DJ in the central NJ area, you've come to the right place! Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Joey Rivera, a.k.a. “Joey Rewind” and this page was created to tell you a little more about me.
For starters, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY (Sunset Park); the child of Puerto Rican immigrants. I've been influenced by all kinds of music while growing up in the big city and have had the opportunity to be around trending technology. In fact, I am highly skilled and have worked professionally with computers and technology for over 30 years. In the early 90's, I moved to the NYC suburbs in central NJ and today, I am the technical operations manager for a successful New Jersey marketing company.
Mutli-talented
I am a man of many talents including playing the piano, music composition, studio recording, and (of course) mixing. My musical influences stem from an eclectic mix of Latin and American music including Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop, Freestyle, Pop, Rock, House, Latin Jazz, Disco, and R&B. It is my love of music that has led me to performing on a more professional level as a mobile disc jockey.
I began my musical journey as a young child, playing the piano at around the age of 9. This helped me understand how music was composed and introduced me to many genres. In my early teens, I dabbled in music production and audio recording using synthesizers, computers and all sort of technology. While growing up in the 80's (arguably one of the best musical decades ever) I started DJing for family and friends in my early teens. I was dubbed "DJ Tech" due to my skills in music production and technology.
In High School, I taught my best friend, Darren (a.k.a. DJ Stress), how to DJ. We then teamed up with a pair of Technics 1200 turntables and hundreds of vinyl records to create a mobile DJ group called “Frequency Response.” After a few years, Darren began his successful military career in the US Air Force. Although we were forced to split up the group, we continued to DJ independently and pursue successful careers. To this day, we remain the best of friends.
Many years later, I decided to rebrand myself as I wanted a name that reflects my speciaties and resonates with my audience. In my search, I found that most of the music people wanted to hear were chart-topping hit songs and popular timeless classics.

Today, I cater to events in the central New Jersey and New York City metro area, including the Latin-American audience. I have adopted the use of new technologies through the years and now use computer-based equipment which allows me to offer some exciting entertainment options including karaoke, intelligent lighting, and video mixing.
What sets me apart?
It's simple: I enjoy playing the songs you already know and love, regardless of what year it was released. Most DJs play only current music you hear on the radio. Unfortunately, many of these songs aren't very good! Obviously, I'll play any song you'd like but my curated music library is full of timeless classics from yesterday and today.
My vast music library spans centuries! Starting with classical (Baroque) music and a few songs sprinkled in from the 1920's, 30's and 40's. It then really begins to build up with popular music from the 1950's through today. With 56,850 tracks stored locally at my fingertips and over 100 million songs available through online services!
